Alwyn is part of the Knitty Professors Winter 2009-2010 Collection.
Sized for babies from newborn to 18 months, Alwyn is a one-piece jumpsuit knit seamlessly from the top down. To accommodate wiggly babies (and diaper changes), it features buttons at the neck and a zippered right leg.
This wintry jumpsuit was inspired by Wilson Alwyn Bentley, the first known photographer of snowflakes. Bentley photographed over 5000 snowflakes, which he referred to as “tiny miracles of beauty” through a special process he developed. Because the snowflakes melted quickly, Bentley developed a process to capture microscopic images mounted on black velvet to show off their intricate designs.
The Fair Isle pattern reflects Bentley's carefully preserved snowflakes. Shown here in ruby red, it would also look lovely in blue, dark green, or even black. Alwyn makes a perfect holiday outfit for your baby girl or boy.

That is so precious. If only I knit well enough to tackle such a delightful project. Who can resist snowflakes? ~Kelly

I started this for my child to be born in December . . . The pattern is off in the raglan setup row. I am short by 4 stitches . . .
